Pride Be Damned

Once described as an energy fuelled, country/rock collision, PBD continues to capture this ideal. Created by the drummer, Scott McCulloch, along with the dancing bass grooves of Brent “Ralph” Milne, fronted by Dave Jollymore, and Dave McCulloch, Pride Be Damned has begun to gather an ever growing following.

Pride Be Damned has played together for the past 20 years, with Dave McCulloch joining the band in late 2016. Dave McCulloch has brought a country voice, and years of frontman experience. Having played for years as DW James, touring, and promoting 2 CDs, PBD welcomed him and began a new direction. This new direction would mean adding a “splash of country” to the set list with keeping the focus on making the audience have a rockin’ good time.

Whether rocking the bar with originals, songs from The Tragically Hip, The Rolling Stones, or slowing down with a ballad from Blue Rodeo, they continue to entertain. PBD isn’t satisfied until they have left it all on the stage, and the audience walks away exhilarated, and exhausted.

Steve Stacey and the Stump Splitters

Steve Stacey and the Stump Splitters are a throwback to the days of storytelling in song, contemplating life with humour, unique observations and truth that is too obscure to be a lie. Armed with songs about cars, lost love, drinking, the occasional murder ballad, no topic is off limits.

Steve will keep you on your toes trying to figure out what will he say next. Working on a new album of original songs, Steve has 2 cd's of original material "Sounded Good at the Time" and "Tall Tales Fibs and Outright lies" which was described in Exclaim magazine - "Steve Stacey and company have carjacked Buck Owens, rear-ended John Prine and made off with (at least) a vat of homemade whiskey to create this set of infectious masterpieces".

Stampeders

THE ORIGINAL STAMPEDERS,

KIM BERLY, RICH DODSON AND RONNIE KING, were one of Canada's top rock groups in the early 70's, having won Juno Awards in the categories 'Best Group,' 'Best Single,' 'Best Producer' and 'Best Composer' for their platinum single, SWEET CITY WOMAN. Their other hits include CARRY ME, DEVIL YOU, WILD EYES, OH MY LADY, THEN CAME THE WHITE MAN, MINSTREL GYPSY, PLAYING IN THE BAND, HIT THE ROAD JACK, NEW ORLEANS, MONDAY MORNING CHOO CHOO and KEEP ME RUNNING WILD, to name just a few.

Hailing from Calgary Alberta, the Stampeders went on to become a household name between 1971 and 1976, with four songs reaching Top-30 in the U.S and ten Top-5 singles in Canada. They recorded nine albums, many achieving gold and platinum status. SWEET CITY WOMAN has since become a classic and a standard in the world of pop music. In a recent poll, it was voted one of the Top-10 most-recognizable songs of the 70's.

In 1972, the band was awarded Holland's prestigious 'EDISON AWARD’ along with RY COODER and CARL WILSON of THE BEACH BOYS, during a televised award show with an estimated audience of over 30-million viewers throughout Europe. In 1991, THE STAMPEDERS had the honour of being inducted into the Alberta Recording Association's "Hall of Fame," and in 1994, they were inducted into the Calgary Rock Hall Of Fame. The Stampeders were also inducted into the SOCAN 'Hall Of Fame' at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto in 2011.

From 1970 to 1977, the band completed six (6) tours across Canada and performed extensively in Europe, South America (representing Canada at the Brazilian Song Festival to an estimated audience of 90-million viewers) and the U.S. with acts like SANTANA, THE BEACH BOYS, THE EAGLES, MOUNTAIN, Z.Z. TOP, RUSH, BLACK OAK ARKANSAS, ROBIN TROWER, SONNY & CHER, AMERICA, EARTH WIND & FIRE, JOE COCKER, STEELEY DAN, BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS, THE JAMES GANG and GENESIS, just to name a few. According to promoter DONALD K. DONALD, they were the top Canadian concert draw from 1971 to '74, and were the first Canadian band to tour from one end of the country to the other.

THE STAMPEDERS can also be credited with having some of the first rock 'videos' by a Canadian act, five of which are included in a one-hour video entitled "CANADA'S COUNTRY-ROCK LEGENDS - THE STAMPEDERS."

They made numerous TV appearances, including their own one-hour CBC special, "A SHORT VISIT TO PLANET EARTH," THE JUNO AWARDS, CBC’S “MISS TEEN CANADA”, NBC’S “THE DATING GAME”, the “SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. AMERICAN SONG FESTIVAL”, KENNY ROGERS’ “ROLLING DOWN THE RIVER,” and the U.S.-originated, "DON KIRSHNER'S ROCK CONCERT”.

Television appearances have included “THE CCMA AWARDS”, “THE DINI PETTY SHOW”, CBC NEWSWORLD’S “PETRIE IN PRIME” and features on MUCHMUSIC’S “BACKTRACKS WITH TERRY DAVID MULLIGAN.”

George Thorogood and the Destroyers

Since 1975, they’ve sold over 15 million albums, built a classic catalog of hits, and played more than 8,000 ferocious live shows. They broke records with their 50 Dates/50 States tour, delivered landmark performances at Live Aid and on SNL, and became mainstays of radio, MTV and stages worldwide for more than two generations. Through it all, they’ve remained one of the most consistent – and consistently passionate – progenitors of blues-based rock in pop culture history.

For the past 45 years, it’s been very good to be George Thorogood & The Destroyers. And in 2019, their Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock will prove why like never before.

“If you’re content, you may as well be dead.” George laughs with his familiar rasp. “I think everyone has thoughts about retiring, but the phone keeps ringing. You want me and The Destroyers to come to your town, set up our gear, wear some badass clothes and play ‘Who Do You Love?’ End of conversation. Let’s rock!”

For Thorogood and his longtime band – Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar) and Buddy Leach (saxophone) – the power to rock audiences has been both battle cry and creed since forming in 1974. “It wasn’t about the amount of people we drew, but rather the impression we made,” George remembers. “I asked myself, ‘Are we reaching them? Do they want more?’ And we knew from the very first set that we had something special.”

It’s on stage that George & The Destroyers flip the switch nightly, delivering what The Toledo Blade calls a “gut-bustin’, guitar-wailin’, face-meltin’, fiery-tempoed, take-no-prisoners, good old-fashioned lunch-bucket rock & roll show” that includes their signature hits “Get A Haircut”, “I Drink Alone”, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”, “Move It On Over”, “Who Do You Love” and the definitive badass anthem “Bad To The Bone”, along with several surprises. “It’s been a constant evolution to make the show all killer, no filler,” explains 43-year Destroyers’ bassist Bill Blough. “Something still inherently clicks the second we step on stage. We feel the audience’s energy and the show just explodes.”

But after 45 years of rock – and no signs of stopping – can Thorogood point to what continues to make it all matter? “My highlight is every night when I walk on that stage and play our hits for those happy people,” he says. “At the end of the show, the audience is smiling, I don’t see any police and everyone got their money’s worth.”

More importantly, is it still good to be bad? George Thorogood instantly flashes that huge grin. “You bet it is,” he says. ”We’ll always be the baddest band in the land. Expect our best on this tour, because that’s what you’re gonna get.”
